William L. Burns, Jr., age 65 of Commercial Township, went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2017. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Cooper Medical Center.
Bill worked as a Master Bottle Maker for over 35 years and for the last 10 years as a commercial ship builder. He was an avid outdoorsman who introduced many youngsters to hunting, fishing, trapping, clamming, and camping. He loved spending quality time with his family and friends. Bill was a dedicated father who instilled in his children the wisdom that there was not anything they could not accomplish if they put their minds to it. He often said "there is no such thing as the word can't". He had a tremendous faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and strived to bring all of his children to know God. One of his favorite Bible verses was Luke 1:37, "For with God nothing will be impossible". He was predeceased by his father, William L. Burns, Sr., and his son Timothy.
Bill is survived by, His mother, Betty Burns; his wife of 43 years, Diane; 4 sons, William and his wife Melani, Clarence (Putt) and his wife Penny, Kenny, and Kevin and his wife Jennifer; 2 daughters, Betti-Jo Williams and her husband Brandon, and Michelle and her fiancé Jason; brother, Dennis; sister, Gina Barber and her husband Allen; 20 grandchildren,6 great grandchildren, his faithful dog Crackers, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by many loved ones that called him "dad".
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bill's funeral service 1 PM Friday March 17, 2017 at Barr Funeral Home, 2104 East Main Street in Millville, where there will be a viewing from 11 AM to 1 PM. Interment will follow in Newport Baptist Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, PO Box 372, Port Elizabeth, NJ 08348.
