Obituary

Thomas "Bono" Bonavich, Sr., age 80, of Millville, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Born January 25, 1944, in Scranton, PA, he was a resident of Millville for over 70 years. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force from 1961, stationed in Plattsburg AirForce Base, until 1965 when he was honorably discharged. Tom was a Senior Corrections Officer for the NJ Department of Corrections, retiring from Bayside State Prison after 25 years of service. Upon retirement, he began working at Otto's Bar, where it can be said he socialized with his buddies as much as he worked.

Tom was a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan and had season tickets for many years, attending all the home games until his health declined. Tom was known for his cabbage rolls which he gave to all his friends and family.

He was a member of the Millville Eagles Aerie 1836, American Legion Post # 82, Loyal Order of the Moose # 2488, and the BPOE Elks Lodge # 580.

Tom is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 57 years, Lynn (Rehman) Bonavich, sister-in-law, Barbara Rehmann, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that were more like family.

Tom was predeceased by his loving son, Tommy Bonavich, Jr, parents, Joseph and Anna Bonavich, and in laws, Gladys and Christopher Rehmann.

Funeral services were private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Millville Rescue Squad, 420 Buck Street, Millville, NJ 08332. Please make checks payable to City of Millville-EMS.
