Obituary

Susan A. Smith, lovingly known as "Susie" and "Mom Mom Zoo," passed away on May 24, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family, who meant more to her than anything in this world.

Born and raised in Millville, Sue had a heart bigger than words could ever describe. She was the kind of person who showed up without hesitation whenever someone needed help. A devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Sue touched countless lives through her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love.

Sue found joy in life's simple moments. She loved baking and cooking for those she loved, spending peaceful days at the beach soaking up the sunshine, and admiring sunflowers, which reflected the beauty she always saw in the world around her. She treasured time spent with family, especially trips to Tennessee that created memories to last a lifetime.

Sue dedicated many years to working at Wawa, where she formed meaningful connections and genuinely cared for both her coworkers and customers, many of whom became like family.

Sue is survived by her loving parents, Alice Weiss and Carl Smith; her siblings, Bobby Joe Smith, Eddie Smith, Chrissi Smith, Greg Smith, Georgia Pastuch, and Anthony Walker (Debbie); her children, Stephanie McPherson (David), Anthony Webster (Jennifer), and Michael Makosky (Christine); and her beloved grandchildren, Adrian, Jacob, Avery, Aubrey, Olivia, and Anna, who lovingly knew and adored her as "Mom Mom Zoo." She is also survived by her nephew, Barry Smith (Tracy), as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Joe Smith.

Sue will be remembered for her selfless heart, her love of family, her strength, and the warmth she brought into every room. Though she will be deeply missed, her love and memory will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.

Sue's services will be held at Barr Funeral Home on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Visitation will be from 10 AM until 11 AM with a Memorial Service at 11 AM.  All who knew and loved Sue are welcome to come together to honor, remember, and celebrate her life.

In honor of Sue's memory, the family asks that you pay it forward to someone in need, just as Sue did throughout her life. Whether through kindness, generosity, or simply showing up for someone who needs support, may her legacy of love continue on.
