R. Gilbert Leeds, age 85 of Mauricetown, NJ and formerly from Palmyra, NJ, went home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2013, surrounded by family. He was born September 3, 1928 in Burlington to the late Richard and Carrie Leeds.
He is survived by his loving wife Lena (Berrevoets) of 63 years, caring children, Linda Leeds Rust (David), Richard G. Leeds, Jr. (Terri) and Nancy J. Leeds, daughter-in-law, Debbie Leeds,
11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, & 2 more greats on the way!
He is also survived by sisters Edith Leeds, Emily Crane, & sister-in-law Janice Leeds.
He is predeceased by his parents, siblings Thelma MacMillan & Melvin Leeds, son Nelson, grandson Ryan, & great grandsons Kyle & Jacob.
He attended the Burlington United Methodist Church through childhood, later the Audubon Gospel Hall, and currently Marmora Gospel Chapel. He knew & loved the Lord as his personal Savior & we rest assured he is "Accepted In the Beloved". He loved spending time with his family. And he loved talking about his Savior & God's love.
He worked as a union carpenter for 30 plus years, retiring from Local 121. He was an avid duck hunter & fisherman in the bays & rivers of SJ, choosing to live on the Maurice River. He enjoyed working with his dog, gardening, and feeding birds. He could talk a blue streak about hunting & fishing.
Family & friends are welcome to attend viewing on Sunday, December 15 at Barr Funeral Home, 2104 E. Main Street Millville, NJ, from 1-3 pm with a funeral service at 3 pm. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Marmora Gospel Chapel P.O. Box 708 Marmora, NJ 08223, or CMML (Christian Missions in Many Lands), P.O. Box 13 Spring Lake, NJ 07762
