Obituary

Norman H. Peek, 96, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, while wintering in Florida.

A lifelong Millville resident, Norm was born on July 4, 1928. A true Yankee Doodle Dandy who loved his family, friends and the American Flag. The youngest of five brothers, he graduated from Millville High School Class of 1945. Norm married his favorite girl, Helen "Sherry" Marts on June 24, 1950; they were married for 66 years.

Norm was best known for his sense of humor. He was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. He left us with the same dignity and strength he exhibited throughout his life. There are very few like him in this world and we were fortunate to have had him with us for as long as we did. He was the best dad any girl could ask for!

He enjoyed working in his yard, going out for breakfast, travelling to Florida and North Carolina to visit his daughters and spending time at home in NJ with his youngest daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as his four-legged, furry grand-dogs.

Norm began his banking career when he went to work at Millville National Bank on February 17, 1947. In 1964 he was promoted to Vice President and in 1980 he was named administrative officer of all offices in Cumberland County. In 1985, Norm was named regional administrator of Cumberland and Salem Counties. Norm also served in the army during the Korean War in the US Army Signal Corps from 1953-1955.

Norm was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 82, Millville BPOE Lodge, Shekinah Lodge #58 F&AM where he was past Master and Past District Deputy Grand Master. He was a member and treasurer of Millville's first Exchange Club in 1960. Norm was also a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Millville.

Norman is predeceased by his wife, Helen "Sherry" Peek and his brothers, Albert, Charles, Rulon and Harold. He is survived by his daughters, JoAnn (Peter) of the Villages, Florida; Karen (Jim) of Kill Devil Hills, NC; and Melissa of Millville. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley (Frank) Bartholomew and Ryan McLoone as well as great grandchildren, Ryan McLoone Jr. and Elliot Bartholomew.

Services will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Barr Funeral Home, 2104 E. Main Street, Millville. There will be a viewing from 9 AM to 11 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11 AM. Burial with Military Honors will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville.
