Kathryn C Schad, age 93, of Millville, passed away January 23, 2025
Kathy was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 17, 1931.  She worked at a local hospital as a teenager, then Eastern Airlines. She met her husband at a mutual friend's wedding, and she married Kenneth Schad June 25, 1955. Together they had three sons, Ken Schad, Herb Schad and Jim Schad. When pregnant with her first child, Eastern Airlines said she could not work there while pregnant. Kathy and Ken took a flight east to visit Ken's older brother in Millville. They quickly fell in love with the area, especially the ocean. When their first son was a year old, they packed up their belongings in a car and drove to Millville to start a new life away from the big city. Kathy found work at the Millville hospital. She was a ward clerk keeping track of all the activities between the doctors and patients. She retired from Millville Hospital/Inspira at the age of 65. After retirement she volunteered at the Hospital at same day surgery for a grand total of 7500hrs. She loved greeting and helping patients and family members. Mom was responsible for being a Cub Scout leader for Den 3, Pack 4 that included all of the neighborhood boys. She took the group on many field trips, and sports activities. She was famous in the neighborhood for her chocolate chip cookies. Even as adults some of the boys knocked on the door to ask for cookies, along with a hello... Kathy's passion was to help all those in need, including stray animals looking for food. She lived very modestly, wearing hand me down clothes from her older sister. No one around her had to do without. Kathy was apologetic during her last three weeks of life, not wanting to put burdens on anyone. God bless her soul. She is now with all those she loved that passed before her.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Kenneth C. Schad, son Ken Schad and his wife, Laurie Voll Schad, granddaughters Elora Schad Gamsby, and her husband Matt, Eden Schad Dratva and her husband husband Petr, Christl Schad and her husband Drew Umyn and granddaughters Nora Gamsby, Malia Gamsby, Max Dratva and Nikki Dratva.

She was predeceased by her sons, Herb Schad and Jim Schad.

A Memorial service was held Sunday, February 16, 2025,12 PM, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Vineland, NJ.
