John J. Dobrosky, age 91 of Haleyville, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016, after fighting Alzheimers for 10 long years. He passed peacefully in the morning, surrounded by his children, four days after celebrating his 91st birthday.
Born in Haleyville, John worked for South State Inc. for over 25 years. He retired at the age of 62 and pursued his passion of farming, "hit & miss" engines, and tractors. He was a well rounded mechanic and he could fix anything.
John is survived by his wife Janet Hand Dobrosky, three children, Donna Giberson; Mike Dobrosky and wife Joy; and Diane Hanby and husband Les; 2 sisters, Mary Robbins and Anne Scott; 5 grandchildren, Diana Wertovitch, Christy Thompson, Mike Dobrosky, Matthew Johnson, and Kyle Johnson; and also 10 great granddaughters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's funeral service 11 AM Wednesday at Barr Funeral Home, 2104 East Main Street in Millville. There will be a viewing from 10 AM to 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association .
