James Joseph
Buckley
d. Jun 11, 2018
Dorchester
The long and challenging battle of declining health came to an end for James "Jim" Buckley on Monday, June 11, 2018, when Jim passed peacefully at Millville Center.
Although Jim's passing will leave an empty space in his family and friends hearts, Jim will want to be remembered as a fun, loving, and always big hearted individual who lived life to the fullest. Not because of wealth or fame, Jim found fun in the simplest things, a day fishing on the Maurice River or a get together on his porch with music and friends; they were some of the pleasures that he enjoyed most. His motto "Conserve Wildlife, throw a party!"
Jim was a middle child of six, a 1960 graduate of Millville High School, and a member of the United States National Guard 50 th Armored Division as an Army Tank Crewman. Jim was a 4 th Degree Knights of Columbus. Jim owned and operated many business ventures throughout his lifetime, including East Point Boat Rentals, a restaurantuer with Holly City Social Club, and Cohanzick Country Club, and for over 20 years, a car sales man, retiring with Gentilini Ford. Jimmy, as he was called by his family, was a lover of animals and a dedicated family man who was always there for anyone in need.
Jimmy was predeceased by his loving parents, John and Helen; brothers, Jack, Tom, and Joe; brother-in-law, William Sooy; and his life partner of 52 years, Andrew Tomlin, Jr.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory, sisters, Anne Sooy and Elizabeth Nicke (Erik), sister-in-law, Pat Buckley, and special niece Carrie Blystone, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial at the Parish of All Saints (formerly St. Mary Magdalen) will take place on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 11 AM with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Millville, NJ.
Anyone wanting to remember Jim is asked to consider donating to Millville Center- Genesis Resident Council Fund, Memo: Recreation, 54 Sharp Street, Millville, NJ 08332, where Jim's memory will continue to brighten and cheer the residents.
The Buckley family also wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses who cared for Jim, along with the staff at Millville Center who helped make Jim's final days peaceful.
