Obituary

Irene Anna Marine, nee Rusznak, passed away peacefully Monday, January 24, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  She had been in declining health the past year.

Irene has lived her entire life in New Jersey.  Born in Perth Amboy she grew up in a Hungarian community.  Her family later moved to Garfield where she graduated from high school and went on to a secretarial program.  She was employed as a secretary by Curtiss-Wright Corporation, a pioneer in aeronautics.  Her tenure at Curtiss-Wright spanned the WWII era.

After her marriage in 1949, she left the workplace to raise a family and was very excited to move to Millville in 1954.  She enjoyed spending time with the family, working out of doors and going to Union Lake in the summer.  As the children grew up, she returned to work as manager of the women's department at Garwood Mills in Vineland.

Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy, never happier than when she could spend time with them.  Irene and her husband, Ernest, played a significant part in the lives of their grandchildren.  They were never too busy to babysit, give rides to and from practices, attend events, assist with school projects or help with homework.  Her family was everything to her, but her home and heart were open to all. She was always willing to help.

She was dearly loved by her family and friends.

Irene was predeceased by her husband, Ernest J. Marine, Sr., her son-in-law, Daniel Green and Alita Randazzo, the fiancee of Ernest Marine, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Donna Green, Ernest Marine, Jr., Denice Smith and her husband Bill and Danette Gaughan and her husband Bernard; grandchildren, Rebecca Rodriguez, Rachel Price, Erik, Christopher and Brandon Smith, Bernard Gaughan IV and Kaila Gaughan; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Jack, Brady, Caleb, Connor, Quinn, Danica and Dijana.
