Howard Kent Edwards, 80, of Millville NJ, passed away on May 13, 2023 at the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA.  He was surrounded by his immediate family.

Kent was born on November 25, 1942 to Harold R. and Dorothy D. Edwards (Biggs) of Millville, NJ.  In his childhood, Kent was an adorable blue-eyed spitfire.  He could be found hanging around the family gas station, this is where his love of cars was instilled in him from a very young age by his father and grandfather.

Kent attended Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock VA.  From there he attended Millville Senior High School and graduated with the class of 1964. Kent took over the family business, Edwards Pontiac of Millville, and later sold it.  He then continued working in the car business for Richard Pepe.  Later, Kent became a correctional officer for Cumberland County.  This is where he retired. After retirement, Kent served his community as a crossing guard for the Millville Police Department.

Kent was a lifelong member of the Millville Elks Club.  He also served as past president of the Millville Rotary Club. He loved photographing lighthouses and is a published photographer.  Kent loved skiing and raced on the USSA Ski Team for many years.  He also loved playing golf, fishing, spending time with his family, and enjoying a manhattan by his pool.

Kent was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched.  He is survived by his wife Mary Edwards (Yondura) of Millville NJ, his two children Kevin Edwards and wife Jennifer Palermo of Kinnelon NJ, Janetlynn Polo (Edwards) and husband Michael Polo of Egg Harbor City NJ, his grandson Tucker Nicholas Edwards of Kinnelon NJ, his sister Patricia Sharpless (Edwards) of Mount Hope Ontario Canada, his niece Melissa Nolet (Sharpless) and family of Mount Hope Ontario Canada and nephew Brian Sharpless of Kitchner Ontario Canada.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 18 ^th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Friday, May 19th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Barr Funeral Home 2104 E Main St Millville, NJ 08332, with a funeral service at 11:00 AM.

Burial will follow and he will be laid to rest at the Deerfield Presbyterian Church Cemetery 530 Old Deerfield Pike Bridgeton, NJ 08302
