Helen "Sherry" Peek, passed away May 16, 2016 surrounded by her loving husband and family after a brief illness.
A lifelong Millville resident, Sherry was born June 1, 1931 to Maurice and Helen Marts. She graduated Millville Senior High School Class of 1948 and was employed by Millville National Bank from 1948 to 1956, leaving in 1956 to raise a family. Sherry was very active in the PTA at RM Bacon School where her children attended, and was also employed there as the cafeteria manager. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 82 and a past member of the Millville Women's Club. Sherry attended Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and was also a member. She enjoyed crafting, traveling with her family and the occasional trip to Atlantic City, and could often be found working in her garden. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother, William Marts and sister, Edna Zielsdorf.
Sherry is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Norman; three daughters, JoAnn Peek and her husband Peter of Smithville, NJ, Karen Brown and her husband Jim of Outer Banks, NC and Melissa Peek of Millville; two grandchildren, Ashley Bartholomew and husband Frank, and Ryan McLoone; great grandson, Ryan McLoone, Jr.; and her four legged furry grandkids whose company she enjoyed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her service 12 Noon Friday, May, 20, 2016 at Barr Funeral Home, 2014 East Main Street in Millville. There will be visitation from 11 AM to 12 Noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Memorial Park. The family request in lieu of flowers that donation be made to the Mt. Pleasant Church, P.O. Box 549, Millville, NJ 08332 or a charity of the donor's choice.
