Obituary

On November 11, 2023, Glenna Bachman gained her wings at the age of 91. Born on February 5, 1932, in Coalwood, West Virginia, she passed away surrounded by family members in Camden, New Jersey.

Glenna was affectionately known by many names. Whether you called her Mom, Sparky, Aunt Gly, or Gran, she held a special place in the hearts of all who knew her. Glenna will be remembered for her quick wit, Southern tenacity, and, above all, her warmth and compassion. She enjoyed walks on the beach, gardening, reading, doing puzzles, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves and Dallas Cowboys. Throughout her life, she defied convention as an Appalachian woman, becoming a trailblazer who faced adversity with remarkable strength and fortitude. Her toughness was matched only by her faith in the Lord and deep devotion to her family, which brought her true joy and fulfillment in life.

Glenna is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Ralphine) Profitt, Pamela (Butch Hanvey) Campbell, and Cynthia (Kurt Sr.) Hess; her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Catherine) Profitt, Matthew (Danielle) Profitt Sr., Danny (Katelyn) Profitt, Dennis Campbell Jr., Lisa (Casey) Patton, Kurt (Alyss) Hess Jr., Tiffany (Daniel) Hess-Bennette, Larissa Hess, Heather Hess; 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Dingess. She is preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth, and father, Willie Sheets Sr.; siblings Willie Sheets Jr., Everett Sheets, Louella Harmon, Freda Gilkerson, and Wilma Hart; and granddaughter Jennifer Elizabeth Campbell.

Her funeral will be a private ceremony for family members. Glenna's family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her memory.
