Obituary

Ethel B. (Tomlin) Welch, age 93, formerly of Millville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, July 28, 2020 at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland. Ethel was born to Andrew and Beatrice Tomlin in Rio Grande, NJ. In her 93 years she lived through the Great Depression, the attack on Pearl Harbor, a brother fighting in the Battle of the Bulge, a husband serving during the Korean War, a man walking on the moon, the assassination of a United States President, and another attack on our country on 9//1//2001. In her lifetime, outhouses were replaced by indoor flushing toilets, sitting around a radio replaced by 80-inch TV's, rabbit ear antennas replaced by 1000+ cable and satellite channels, plus the invention of computers and cell phones and more technology than she would ever comprehend. She witnessed more in her lifetime than any other generation.

Through all these changes, her faith in God never changed. She and her husband of 62 years, the late George welch, exemplified lives committed to God and each other no matter what life brought. Ethel was George's primary caregiver for many years after his stroke and his advocate at the NJ Veteran's Memorial Home until his passing. Ethel was a very active member of the Millville Church of the Nazarene in years past. It was her lifelong desire that all should know Jesus Christ, even as her time here was coming to an end.

Ethel said a temporary goodbye to her husband George in 2013.  She is survived by their children, Ruth Narvaez and her husband Bill, Ken Welch and his wife Millie, Mary Beth Dupnock and her husband Steve, Rev. Keith Welch and his wife Shelley. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and 2 sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

A private graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Barr Funeral Home, Millville. Memorial contributions in loving memory of Ethel may be made to Millville Church of the Nazarene, 2201 E. Main St., Millville, NJ 08332.
