Edward R. Atkinson, age 86 of Millville, passed away Thursday afternoon May 3, 2018. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Edward was a Marine Corps Korean War veteran who was injured, taken prisoner, and held for two years in a POW camp. He had been awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained during his captivity. He was a member of American Legion Nabb Leslie Post 82 and VFW Post 2169 of Millville. He enjoyed the friendships he shared during the time he spent at the posts. He also enjoyed fishing, cooking, and sharing his culinary creations with his family and neighbors. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Edward is survived by: his wife Betty; his children, Amy Ronketty and husband Joe, Andrew Atkinson, Edward LaRosa, Audrey Blank, Lisa Miller, and Linda Caregnato; step-daughters, SherrI Groff and husband Scott, and Chrissi Cottrell and husband George; 2 sisters, Betty Chain and Virginia Albrizo; 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
