Obituary

Edith May Nyman (1929 - 2025)

Edith May (nee Hadden) Nyman, 95, was born on May 1, 1929, to Theron and Leah (nee Bertholf) Hadden, the youngest of four Hadden children (Dorothy, Harry and Francis are all predeceased).  She graduated from Rutherford NJ High School and worked as a secretary before marriage.  In later years, she worked as a sales associate at Bamberger's in Paramus and at Sears in Hackensack.

She married Harold Alexander Nyman in 1949 and together they raised three children in Hackensack, NJ.  In 2012 Edith and Harold moved to Millville, NJ to live with their son John and his wife Denise.

Edith suffered from dementia and received nursing care at Preferred Care at Cumberland since 2019.  In her last days she also received hospice care from Lighthouse Hospice. Edith experienced a natural death on March 5, 2025.

Edith lived a long and loving life.  She enjoyed music, especially the Bee Gees and Johnny Cash; playing along with TV game shows; tending her garden flowers; playing with the family cats; and the frustrations and joys of following the New York Mets. Edith will be remembered for her
kindness and easy laughter, and devotion to her family.

She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Harold.

Edith is survived by her children: John Eric, Stephen, and Linda Carol; her grandson Eric Christopher; and her great-grandson Osiris Moon.

Her cremains will join those of Harold at Finn's Point National Cemetery at a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation be made in her memory to the American Red Cross.
