E. Louise
Sherman
d. Oct 6, 2020
MILLVILLE
Sherman, E. Louise (nee Moore) – 81, of Millville, passed away peacefully at home following a lengthy illness. Born and raised in Millville, Louise graduated from Millville High School in 1957 and began her career working at City National Bank. The following year she married her high school sweetheart, George, the love of her life. She continued working at various banks while raising her three children. She then left banking and joined her husband in operating Don and George's tavern before returning to banking and retiring in 2006. They resided at their home on Burns Road for their entire married life until his death in 1995.
Louise was truly devoted to her family and her life revolved around them. It has been said that "if you can't get along with Louise, you can't get along with anyone." Truer words were never spoken. She was the epitome of kindness and grace.
Louise took pleasure in cooking and baking for family and neighbors. Molasses cookies were her specialty. She enjoyed tending her flowers and watching the birds and butterflies that were attracted to her yard. She loved family get-togethers, especially Christmas Eve when all friends and relatives gathered in her home, year after year, to enjoy gift-giving, storytelling, and great food.
In addition to her husband, Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Louise (Heidenreich) Moore, four sisters and her brother. Left to cherish her memory are her children and their families: daughters Lisa Guariglia (Rick) and Anita, and son George Sherman (Mebane), seven grandchildren Jared Smith, Jennifer Vergara, Lindsey Guariglia, Richard and Tyler Menz (Emily), and Morgan and Kelsey Sherman, and three great-granddaughters Juliana Vergara, Savannah and Paislee Menz. Louise is also survived by one sister, Edith Burns, her sister-in-law, Rita Sherman, and many nieces and nephews.
