Deveris "Babe" F. Knapp (nee Hufsey), age 90, has died on Saturday, March 7, 2015. She was born on September 11, 1924 and was a long-time resident of Millville. She graduated from Millville High School in 1941.

The happiest time in her life was when she served in the U.S. Navy. She joined in 1944 and was honorably discharged as Seaman 1st Class in 1946. While in the W.A.V.E.S., Babe had the opportunity to perform maintenance on airplanes and work in the control tower among other duties. She was pleased to serve in WWII and was always proud to be a veteran and a WAVE.

Babe is survived by her sister Fay Kovalenko; her daughters Jerry R. Favretto (Nicholas) and Bennie L. Ricci (Roy Weakland); her grandchildren Richard J. Favretto, Deanna Ricci and Rosalie S. John (Mark); her great-grandson Timothy S. Hickman; her niece Vicki Caplis (Richard); and her nephews John Kovalenko, Jeffrey Hufsey and Peter Hufsey.

Babe was preceded in death by her parents Russell L. and Rose (Krause) Hufsey; her brother Berton "Ben" Hufsey; her grandson John A. Ricci, Jr.; and her nephew Steve Kovalenko.

Instead of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to your favorite charity. A private memorial service will be held for family members. The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Barr Funeral Home.
