Christian James Johnson, Sr., age 63, of Newport, passed away Thursday morning, April 4, 2024, at Inspira Hospital.

Christian was born in Millville, graduated Bridgeton High School class of 1979, and was a life long resident of Newport. He spent his life on the water as a self-employed crabber and fisherman. He was a good father who always made time to lend an ear to listen to your problem and offer advice. He was fee spirited and described himself as a pirate.

Christian was predeceased by his parents, William W. Johnson, Jr. and Sylvia Gale Johnson, and a brother, William W. Johnson III.

He is survived by his companion, Lorraine Spencer, children, Christian J. Johnson, Jr. and Kimberlee Johnson, 6 grandchildren and 2 sisters.

Cremation will be private through Barr Funeral Home.
