Caroline Ann
Hooven
d. Sep 5, 2025
Vineland
Caroline Ann Hooven, lovingly known as "Carol", passed away peacefully on Friday September 5, 2025, at the age of 89 surrounded by her family. Born on July 31, 1936, Carol touched countless lives with her kindness, warmth, and the remarkable ability to make everyone feel like family. To so many, she was simply "Mom" or "Granny", roles she cherished deeply.
Carol worked for many years at Wheaton Industries, where she was a dedicated and hardworking employee. Yet, her most cherished and fulfilling role was that of mother and grandmother, which she embraced with boundless love and devotion. Above all, she was a good and faithful servant of God. With steadfast belief and hope in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, she lived a life that reflected His love. Her faith was a constant source of strength, and her life was a true witness to the hope she carried in her heart.
A passionate sports fan, Carol never missed a chance to cheer on her beloved New York Mets and Las Vegas Raiders. She especially loved hosting "Game Day" with her family, and her annual crabs and spaghetti dinner on her birthday was a tradition everyone looked forward to.
She is survived by her beloved children: Brian (Marguerite) Bassetti, Medio (Jane) Bassetti, and Darlene (Kenny Chann) Bassetti. Her cherished grandchildren: Jason (Kim) Briggs, Ryan (Erin) Briggs, Melanie (Kevin) Anderson, Rachel (Rob) Harrington, Timothy Bassetti and Medio Bassetti III. Her dear step-grandchildren: Lia (Ish) Chann, and KC (Allison) Chann. Her treasured great-grandchildren: Kayla (Matthew) Urgo, Sarah Briggs, Jacob Briggs, Mason Briggs, Emma Briggs, Noah Briggs, Katie Anderson, Julia Anderson, Gabriella Bassetti, and Zechariah Bassetti—along with two precious great-great-grandchildren, Olivia and Luca Urgo. She is also survived by her brother Jack Pennington and many nieces and nephews who adored her. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Isabelle Pennington, her siblings: Harry Pennington, Herbert Pennington, Benjamin Pennington, Isabelle Locker, Eleanor Gale, and Rose Coulton.
Carol's love knew no bounds, and her presence brightened every room she entered. She leaves behind a family and community who will forever be grateful for the gift of her love, her laughter, and her unwavering devotion.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
