Billy Joe Carpenter, age 93, of Bridgeton, NJ, woke up in Heaven on July 9, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eva Carpenter. Billy J was a pastor and evangelist in song and word. He was veteran of the National Guard and the US Army. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather.

Billy J. is survived by his children, Brenda (Carl) Terry,  David (Sue) Carpenter, Billy Dean Carpenter, Phyllis (David) Suringer, and Rebecca (Stacey) Satterfield; stepchildren, Cindy Alt, Bonnie (Jim) Bradford, Brenda (Ray) Johnson, Billie Carpenter, and Debbie (Bill) Haggen; grandchildren, Andrew (Samantha) Terry, Summer (Johnathan) O'Neil, Billy Carpenter Jr., Chris (Theresa) Carpenter, Steve (Karen) DuBose, Rexanne (Billy) Johnson, Amanda Heins, Jenni (Michael) Neugeschwender, Kyle Heins, Skylar Harrington, Jordan Harrington, Megan (Travis) Clarke, Robin (Albert) Walters, Glenn Alt III, Billy Armstrong, Jr., and many other grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Billy J. was also preceded in death by stepchildren, Billy Armstrong, Eva Armstrong and many other loving family members.

Services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Barr Funeral Home, 2104 E. Main Street, Millville. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 AM to 11 AM. The funeral service, with his grandson, Rev. Jim Bradford officiating, will begin at 11 AM followed by burial in Greenwood Memorial Park.
