Betty Jean Lovett-Phillips, age 79, was called home to be the Lord on August 30, 2024, while at her home surrounded by family.  She was born April 7, 1945, to the Late Joe and Viola Lovett in Midville, Georgia.

She attended Delray/Pomano Beach Florida Public Schools. Betty moved to New Jersey in 1964 and worked as a line worker at Blue Coach in Vineland, New Jersey and later worked at Four Star in Bridgeton, New Jersey until she became injured and was unable to work.

She was a member of St. Phillips Church located in Fairton, New Jersey. Betty was known by the family for telling old family stories and memories. Some of her favorite things to do outside of spending time with her family was fishing, cooking, gardening, spending time at the casino and always quoting her favorite saying, "You can't melt her on me."

Betty Jean Lovett-Phillips leaves to cherish her memories, a companion of 39 years, Daniel Gilmore of Millville, New Jersey; two sons, John Slater Jr. of Lakeland Florida and Tony Slater of Millville, New Jersey; two daughters, Angela Phillips of Bridgeton, New Jersey and Keysha Batie of Millville, New Jersey; one brother, James (Lorraine) Lovett of Millville, New Jersey; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a close friend, Nancy Brown of Seabrook and a host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her father Joe and mother Viola Lovett, three sisters, Viola (Charles) Barner, Joanne (Scott) Harris and Lorraine Edwards.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing and service on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Barr Funeral Home, 2104 E. Main Street, Millville, NJ 08332. There will be a viewing from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM followed by the funeral service. Burial will be in Fordville Cemetery, Fairfield Twp., NJ.
