Obituary

Betty D. Aleshire (nee Dietz), aged 99, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024 in Vineland, NJ. Born on January 15, 1925, in Miami, Florida, she was the beloved daughter of William and Eva Dietz and cherished sister of Doris Fillmore. Betty was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Glyn E. Aleshire, her parents, her sister, and many other dear relatives.

Betty's life was marked by her dedication to family and community. After graduating from Towson High School in 1943, she devoted herself to raising her daughters and later joined the workforce at John Wanamaker's Department Store, where she worked from 1970 until 1990. Known affectionately as Buboo, Betty was a loving person with a perpetual twinkle in her eye. When you saw her coming you could bet she was wearing a hat! She was an avid reader who also loved traveling and cooking for others. Her enjoyment of mah jongg, cards, and bingo, along with her active involvement with the Millville Woman's Club and volunteer work at Wheaton Village, highlighted her commitment to both fun and service.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Stephanie May (Donald) of Little Orleans, MD, and Leslie Trucano (John) of Vineland, NJ; granddaughters, Rachel Resch (Philip) and Erin Harmer (Michael); great-grandchildren, Nate Harmer, Seth Harmer, Emmalee Harmer, MacKenzie Harmer, Tyler Resch, and Garrett Resch; and numerous other family members who will fondly remember her with warmth and care.
