Obituary

Barbara A. (McCafferty) Andrews

It is with a great deal of sadness that I announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, and mom-mom, Barbara Andrews. Barbara passed away early on Monday morning after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 84 with family members by her side. She is now at peace in the hands of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Barbara was born December 16, 1940, at Millville Hospital to William J. Sr. and Alice G. McCafferty and was the youngest of eight siblings. She was a lifelong resident of Millville until relocating to Egg Harbor Township in 2017. She graduated from Millville High School in the wonderful class of 1959 when she was also voted Best Dressed of her senior class.

Upon graduation Barbara started working at Alva Tape on Orange Street as a secretary and then took a break to raise her two sons. She then worked at the Childrens Shop on High Street and eventually took a position as a sales clerk at Mangino's Shoe Store in Newfield where she worked with her sister Shirley and niece Linda.

Barbara enjoyed family gatherings on holidays and other special events. She loved to cook and bake, read mystery novels and watch the Phillies and Eagles games. She loved trips to Williamsburg and the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Many great times were spent at the Ocean City boardwalk and beach with her grandchildren. She always made time to watch her grandchildren's activities. She looked forward to every dance recital, soccer, basketball, and baseball game. She even made trips to watch her oldest grandson Christopher play baseball at Cooperstown and Florida.

Barbara was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 67 years and continued to attend services even after moving from Millville. She loved her church family.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by sisters Delores, Elaine, and Shirley and brothers Dale, Donald, and William J. Jr. Surviving are her husband of 58 years Larry, sons Rick (Katie), and Chris (Vicki), grandchildren Christopher, Carson, Brynn and Laynie, sister Nancy Brown, sister-in-law Arlene McCafferty and several nieces, nephews and many other dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 116, Millville, NJ 08332, or St. Jude Children's Research hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929, or to the American cancer Society.

Services will be conducted on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at First United Methodist Church, 2nd and Pine Streets, Millville, with visitation beginning at 9:30 am and service following at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Arrangements are under the supervision of Barr Funeral Home, 2104 E. Main Street, Millville.
