Aaron Vance Peterson III, 87**
*June 8, 1938 – September 26, 2025*
Aaron Vance Peterson III, age 87, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, in his hometown of Millville, New Jersey. Born on June 8, 1938, also in Millville. Aaron remained deeply rooted in the community that shaped him throughout his life.
A proud graduate of Millville Senior High School, Aaron went on to complete the Master Electrical Program through Kerr Glass Company. His dedication to his craft led him to become a master electrician, an achievement that not only defined his professional life, but also made him a trusted and beloved figure in town. Known for generously offering his skills to friends and neighbors alike, Aaron's handiwork can be found in countless homes across Millville. His selflessness and work ethic left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Aaron served honorably in the Army National Guard, demonstrating the same sense of duty and commitment that he carried into every aspect of his life.
From a young age, Aaron was drawn to the water. He bought his first boat at just 14 years old and began working as an oysterman. If he wasn't at work, he could almost always be found out on the bay fishing. His favorite catches included perch, weakfish, flounder, and especially striped bass. Fishing wasn't just a pastime for Aaron, it was a passion that brought him peace and joy throughout his life.
Another of Aaron's great passions was winemaking. Summers were often spent with family gathered around the grape grinder. If it produced juice, Aaron would find a way to turn it into wine. His homemade vintages were as memorable as the man himself and became a cherished tradition among those close to him.
Aaron was the only son among six children and held a special place in the hearts of his five sisters. He was a beloved brother to Patricia Hoffman, Janet Paranych, and Nancy Shelin. He was predeceased by his parents, Aaron Peterson Jr. and Esther Peterson; as well as sisters Sara Erricson and Linda Peterson.
He leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward his legacy: sons Mark (Olivia) Peterson, Scott Peterson, and Aaron (Jennifer) Peterson IV; daughter Bonnie (Tolly) Sokolov; grandchildren Blair (Michael) Vivirito with great-grandson Vincent "Vinny," Justin (Emily) Peterson, Samantha "Sammy" Peterson, Aiden Sokolov, Alysha Sokolov (Gage Mejeske) with great-grandson Osborne "Ozzy," Jayna Peterson, Aaron (Kennedy) Peterson V, and Alina Peterson.
Aaron's presence was a constant source of strength for his family—a steady hand through life's challenges and celebrations alike. His wisdom guided generations. His humor lightened every room, and his love formed the foundation upon which so many lives were built.
A man of quiet generosity and unwavering loyalty, Aaron lived by example. He worked hard not for recognition, but because it was simply who he was. Whether wiring a neighbor's home or teaching a grandchild how to cast a line or crush grapes for wine, he gave freely of himself without hesitation.
Though there is now an unfillable space where he once stood, a void felt deeply by all who loved him, we take comfort in knowing that Aaron's spirit lives on in every story shared over a glass of homemade wine or during early morning hours spent fishing on calm waters.
We love you Pop, may you always have fair winds and following seas!
May your memory bring comfort to those who knew you.
